Our Forever Home
Karen and I are both from the Midwest (Minnesota and Wisconsin). My parents and sister had moved to Florida. Eventually my mom’s health had gotten poor, so Karen and I decided to move there to help take care of my mom. Although Florida was nice, it wasn’t the Midwest. While there, my sister (who had been living with my mom) passed away unexpectantly and my mom’s health continued to decline.
My mom was born in Lumberton, North Carolina and met my dad there while he was serving in the Army at Fort Bragg, 62 years ago. I asked my parents if they would like to return to Lumberton since my mom still had brothers living there that she had not seen for many years. They were excited at the idea, and we both sold our homes and headed to Lumberton.
Mom was very happy to get to spend time with her family, even with the constant in and outs at hospitals. The happiness of the move slowly faded for all of us as the hurricanes and rising poverty of the area was taking its toll on us. We decided that we really needed to get back to the Midwest! We put our houses back up for sale. We knew we didn’t want the Minnesota cold or the Florida hot, so Karen and I went on a search and discovered Grand Villa Community, in Missouri. We drove all the way there to meet with CS and put down payments on 2 homes that day! We fell in love with the area and Grand Villa right away.
We still had to sell our houses, but we decided for Karen to go ahead and move down and get employment. We loaded up a Uhaul full of our stuff and Karen drove it down, all by herself, and got our home all set up all while securing a good job almost immediately.
About a month had passed and mom and dad were able to sell their house. At the time, however, mom was hospitalized so dad had to move in with me until mom was able to get out of the hospital. Karen flew back to help me get mom and dad’s house emptied. Then Karen drove it down to Missouri, all by herself again! Dad and I stayed in my empty house in Lumberton with one bed and a loveseat until we could move mom. It wasn’t safe to move her, and wasn’t looking like that was going to change, so dad hired a medical transport company to safely move mom. She was so tired of being in hospitals for the past 2 years and was begging to go home and home for her was the Midwest.
Mom and dad put all their trust in us, as we went and picked out their home for them without them ever having seen it. We took our cars with the medical transport and we are finally HOME! We could not be happier with Missouri and Grand Villa. Mom is doing well and walking around some. Our house still hasn’t sold yet, but we are home.

Spend your mornings sipping coffee as you sit on the cozy east facing covered porch enjoying the dawn’s breeze while it gently calls you awake.
As dawn passes and you are entering your beautiful home, you’ll be invited into the spacious open living room with its vaulted ceiling. Scale is created by using two earth-based paint colors, which bring dramatic interest to this room.
The open floor plan between the kitchen and living room will keep you from feeling closed in while you prepare your morning meal. The kitchen includes an island stove, refrigerator, and a new dishwasher. An eat-at bar surrounds three sides of the island giving you extra space for friends or grandkids to enjoy a specially prepared brunch. There’s room for a nice table and the built-in pantry and hutch provide extra storage for your culinary needs.
The utility room, which is off the kitchen, has a door which hides your laundry and helps hold down on washer/ dryer noise.

Do you like clean lines and cool color tones? A design with no strife or bother, just pure comfort and ease of living?
Well you have found your perfect home!
Wrap yourself in cool colors as you cruise through this one of a kind, polished to perfection, home. Starting with the open living room, you will notice the richly colored B-Board in a deep Prussian blue as it contrast against the soft Smoky grey painted walls creating the illusion of even greater space.
Looking into the Dining/Kitchen area you note the Prussian blue has also been artfully applied to the cabinetry which beautifully enhances the unique tile backsplash. The large dining area can comfortably fit a nice sized table, giving plenty of room for guest, as the gorgeous waterproof tri-colored plank flooring eases your mind against a spilled glass of wine or an unfortunately placed platter of spaghetti.
The bar height counter separating the kitchen from the living room makes for ease of a quick lunch or snack. Another kitchen feature, always appreciated, is the pantry providing storage as it flanks one side of the refrigerator opening which easily accommodate a large side-by-side.
An open utility room is located between the kitchen and master bedroom and is fit with cabinetry over the dryer for out of view storage. A clothes rod, for hanging freshly laundered clothing, has been mounted for your convenience. This area also incorporates the back door.
The master bedroom is nice sized, making easy work of furniture placement and will accommodate a king size bed. This room also features an extremely large walk-in closet. The master bathroom has been completely remodeled with a new tub and tub surround, new beautiful his and hers vanities with a tiled make-up surface in between. New mirrors, lighting and beautiful plank flooring finish this incredible room.
The front bedroom is large and would make a great library or den for a quiet get away space. The third bedroom can be used for an office or guest room. All the interior doors are new with handsome nickel hardware. The ceilings and walls have all been freshly painted and the carpet and floating plank floors are all new. The porch has two sets of steps for easy access to the large concrete patio, new skirting was installed and the roof has been sealed. This is a 1996 home who’s interior is completely new.
You can make this house your home for only $29,900!
